The end of the year is coming and many industries have begun to estimate the trend for 2024, especially fashion. Looking back on the past two years, global fashion trends revisited the styles of the '80s, '90s, until the early 2000s, Fashion items revolving around the Y2K style garnered a lot of attention in the market.
In 2024, fashion trends are expected to reflect the end of the '70s era through the end of the 2000s era. This shift has already been noticeable during the fashion show for Spring/Summer 2024 collections at various fashion weeks. These shows featured looks that are likely to become trends in the coming year.
Fashion influencer Ayla Dimitri mentioned that fashion trends change more quickly, and there's much to discuss about them. She predicts that several new hot trends will become favorites next year, particularly highlighting the "weird girl aesthetic" style.

"In the next year, I think the trend is going to be 'weird girl aesthetic'. Red stockings, black stockings, and the glasses I wear will also become trendy," Ayla said during our recent meeting.
According to InStyle, fashion items that support the weird girl aesthetic style include mini bodycon dresses adorned with sequins and floral motifs, paired with slingback high heels and calf-length socks. This combination creates an outstanding look of said style.

If you desire a more eccentric yet chic style, Ayla suggests combining a shirt and knit vest with a mini skirt. The key to this look is the fusion of masculine and feminine styles to enhance a bolder fashion statement. This style, as Ayla predicts, is expected to gain popularity next year. Additionally, utility wear commonly used for outdoor activities is likely to be part of the trends in 2024.
"And then, utility wear usually used during outdoor activities-utility vest or mountain sandals-will become trending fashion items," Ayla predicts.
The former fashion editor added that an oversized bag which can carry everything including your laptop, makeup, to folding umbrellas would allow you to bring them anywhere without worrying about ruining your bag. She acknowledges that fashion trends are evolving rapidly and becoming more exciting each year.
"So, there are a lot of shifts that actually already exist. But as time goes on, the atmosphere becomes more exciting every year, I think," she concluded.
