July has come, meaning summer is here! Of course, there are going to be a lot of new movies and series coming out to accompany the joyful times of summer. What are they?

Barbie
Finally, finally, finally! I'm sure this is what we've all been waiting for. Yup, Greta Gerwig's Barbie live-action will finally hit theaters globally on July 19th! Starring Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken, the Barbie live-action will show us a real Barbie adventure as Barbie and Ken will be visiting the real world, which is very much different than the perfect and candy-colored Barbie world we all know of.

Bird Box Barcelona
Post-apocalyptic horror slash thriller Bird Box (2018) will have its own spinoff from Netflix! Bird Box Barcelona will focus on the same event that happens to Sandra Bullock in the 2018 movie, but this time the story centers around a man in Barcelona as he tries to navigate his own survival journey from the "blinding terrors". We don't know what to expect from this movie yet since the plot is somehow similar to the first movie, so better check it out later on July 14th only on Netflix!

D.P. Season 2
One of Netflix's top Korean dramas, D.P. will finally come back for another season! D.P. season 2 will pick up where it left off; more suspense, action, heart-wrenching moments, and every impact mandatory military service in Korea has on its soldiers. Moreover, we'd get to see Jung Hae In back in action! Watch D.P. season 2 on July 28th.

Dream
Another highly anticipated K-drama will also arrive on Netflix this month! Starring two top Korean actors IU and Park Seo-joon, Dream is a sport comedy film directed by actor Lee Byung Hun (Mr. Sunshine, Squid Game, Emergency Declaration). Park Seo-Joon will play the role of Yoon Hong Dae, a soccer coach leading a team who tries to compete in an annual international soccer championship. Meanwhile IU will play the role of a producing director who tries to make a documentary about Hong Dae's team in hope of finding success. See it all on Netflix, out July 25th!

Insidious: The Red Door
Concluding the Insidious franchise, Insidious: The Red Door will be the final chapter of the Lambert family's terrifying saga. Ready to haunt you on July 5th, the movie will be set ten years after the ending events of the second film where Josh Lambert drops his son Dalton off at university. However, of course, the demonic entity from their past begins haunting them both. One way or another, they must stop the nightmare for good. Will it end, though?

Mission: Impossible-Dead Reckoning Part One
Ever-so-mesmerizing Tom Cruise will be back in action for the seventh installment of Mission Impossible, coming out in theaters on July 8th. This time, Ethan Hunt and his IMF team must track down a dangerous weapon before it falls into the wrong hands. Will they succeed? Only one way to find out.

Oppenheimer
Cillian Murphy will play the main role in Christopher Nolan's upcoming historical drama, Oppenheimer, that will hit theaters on July 19th. This star-studded movie will be loosely based on the true events of the Manhattan Project, US' first development of the atomic bomb during World War II. This movie will be Nolan's longest work yet, with screen time that will run for almost 3 hours long. Well, let's wait for this masterpiece from the distinguished filmmaker.

The Deepest Breath
Netflix and A24 will team up once again for a new work after the drama series Beef (2023). Filmmaker Laura McGann will highlight the world of freediving, which is considered as dangerous as reaching the top of Everest. This documentary focuses on two professional divers who train to break the world record of diving. Come see the inspirational documentary The Deepest Breath on July 19th only on Netflix.

The Uncanny Counter Season 2: Counterpunch
Eonni's Noodles gang will finally be back for more kick-ass action in The Uncanny Counter season 2. Based on a webtoon of the same name, The Uncanny Counter revolves around the world of demon hunting. Yet, like most K-dramas, it also showcases the warmth of found family in between the thrilling adventure of catching evil spirits. The newest season of the widely loved K-drama will be available to watch on July 29th.

There you have it, nine upcoming releases worth anticipating!
