Heads up JJK lovers, the new season of the MAPPA Studio's 2020 anime production is coming back for another season!
After the success of the prequel movie, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, we are slowly heading to Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 this year! The news was revealed at Jump Festa 2023 with a photo teaser of Gojo, Nobara, Yuji, and Megumi being 'face to face' with Geto, Shoko, and (also) young Gojo all dressed up in their second-year Jujutsu High uniform. The teaser visual alone hints at the Shibuya Incident and well, you guessed it, Gojo's Past Arc where he and Geto are still BFFs.
To refresh your memory, the first season of JJK ended with the conclusion of the Death Painting Arc, which showcases chapters 55-64 in the manga. So, the second season will pretty much follow the manga as it will firstly take a walk down the memory lane and show us the story of Gojo's youth, specifically a mission involving Gojo and Geto escorting a Star Plasma Vessel to Tengen, which covers chapters 65-79 in the manga. As of the Shibuya Incident-which exhibited in chapters 79-136-is all about Geto's plan to seal away Gojo in the Prison Realm which includes a smashing, fighting arc in a passenger car (hence, the visual teaser).
Since the two arcs have been confirmed, we expect the upcoming season should last anywhere between 24-26 episodes. Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 is slated to air from July 2023; the month full of excitement where incredible anime shows are also going to make their way to streaming platforms such as Attack on Titan's final chapters and Demon Slayer season 3.
MAPPA CEO Manabu Otsuka also assured fans that the second season wouldn't be more of the same. If any, it's going to be a lot more exciting. As he told Crunchyroll, "The first season of the television series and the movie have been very, very successful. We would like to leverage that success for season 2, but we are not going to be doing the same thing and repeat ourselves. To the fans of the series, I would like to show even greater success and bigger growth in season 2." he stated.
Jujutsu Kaisen will be available to watch on several streaming platforms such as Netflix, Crunchyroll, iQIYI, Viu, and WeTV.
