There's a shift in supply and demand in the beauty industry. Nowadays, consumers of the beauty industry seek transparency in products they are aiming to purchase. They want to know what product works best on their face as well as what product is best for the planet. Eventually, they will support brands that are committed to the environment, whether by sustainable ingredient sourcing, innovative packaging solutions that are eco-friendly, or natural and organic products.

When it comes to beauty sustainability, it refers to the end-to-end process. In other words, it's how sourcing, manufacturing, packaging, and selling can make the tiniest impact possible on the environment. You may think; I can't possibly change the world in a big way through my choice of beauty products! However, when you think about the plastic bottles of shampoos that you kept purchasing every other month or the waste from your unrecyclable cotton pads to remove your makeup every night is leaving a big impact on the environment. So, if you make new arrangements to your beauty routine by switching to eco-products, it can cumulatively save our oceans and landfills, thus preserving the future of our planet.

Everything takes time; switching to a green lifestyle starts with small tiny steps like switching your bottled shampoos into bars like what Lush and Love, Beauty, and Planet products offer. A beauty local brand, Sensatia Botanicals, comes up with a sheet mask made of veocel, which is completely biodegradable just by a week! All in all, more beauty companies are now aiming for the beauty business to enable both the planet and its target consumers to flourish.

As a beauty consumer, it's important to be well informed on better ways to dispose of beauty products, too. Beauty containers like plastic bottles, cans, or glass are recyclable. If you have finished a product, make sure that you clean all of the remaining contents inside before throwing them in a recycle bin. Better yet, beauty companies like Garnier have established a program, the Green Beauty Movement, which is committed to reducing plastic waste by 100 tonnes each year through the app eRecycle! So, you can easily participate in these programs to support beauty sustainability. But, if your go-to beauty products come in packaging that isn't biodegradable, you can always learn how to upcycle the products by finding another use for them.

When the beauty industry is already transforming for the better by taking the environmental factors into account, as consumers, however, we hold more power to make a change. Just a switch from standard cotton pads to reusable ones or cloth will surely make a difference. In fact, won't you feel better and more comfortable acknowledging that the beauty products dabbed onto your face each morning don't harm the environment? The choice is ours, and we just have to make it.
