ARMYs and Uaenas, rejoice! SUGA x IU is coming back once again!

After the success of eight released in 2020, the digital monsters aka digimons of K-pop are teaming up again for a new track that will be released this week, April 7th. Born in the same year, eight was a tribute to IU's youth, something the rapper can probably resonate with—hence a heartwarming collab. Not only taking the producer title, SUGA also featured in IU's eight, offering a piece of his mind through the second verse. While the pop-rock song belongs to IU, "People Pt. 2" will be SUGA's newest work for his upcoming album, D-Day.

Hinted from the name, "People Pt. 2" is—if any—the successor to SUGA's previously released track People from his mixtape D-2. The lyrics speak of his present views on people; how they live and how it was different from the life he owns. There's a line in the song that goes, "Your ordinary became my special/Your special became my ordinary". Living an unorthodox life as a renowned superstar, there are many differences that set SUGA apart from the rest of the world.

References goes to an interview he did in BTS' docu-series Break The Silence (2020) where he says, "You lose as much as you gain. You gain as much as you lose. For me, I lost the ordinary. That's the biggest change. What that means is—what's ordinary to others is very special to me, whereas what's special to others is very ordinary to me. Then, before you know it, your set of values changes, the values with which you see the worlds."

In other words, just going out to the theatre with friends or traveling to a new city is a luxury to SUGA who finds them hard to do, whereas it's a mundane thing for most people. Apart from his personal notion, SUGA senses people's value comes as two; either something important or equivalent to a passing breeze.

Sometimes we're this admirable figure in someone's life, but sometimes we're just another person who happened to cross paths in their life. We're both trivial and significant. But then again, he doesn't see that as a problem; "So what?/What if you just brush by?/What if you live like that?" Perhaps, that is the reason why the track received so much love from people (pun intended) including SUGA himself.

In a 2020 V LIVE commentary he did, the song initially would have someone to be featured with. So, it's exciting to see whether "People Pt. 2" would be a reworked version of the original or a completely new track in retrospect to the first song. The good news? We'll find out as soon as this Friday!
