Jakarta -

Festivals or music events have always been our favorite events to visit with friends and family. Besides the fact that we get to enjoy and dance to our favorite artists' songs, we also get to have fun with people we bring with us and somehow it could strengthen the bond of relationship we have with them. However, our energy has only been spent staying at home, watching Netflix, and reminiscing the good old days when we were able to actually stand in the crowd of people. It is sickening indeed to realize that we haven't gotten rid of the pandemic just yet that some of us might have to wait for the postponed event and some of us probably have gotten our refunds. So, here are some of the music events that we had been waiting for but canceled due to the pandemic.

Head in The Clouds
For all 88rising music listeners out there, we're all still quite disappointed that the hope to see NIKI, JOJI and Rich Brian pumping up the stage vanished just like that on March 3rd 2020, which was only 4 days before the D-day of the event. This festival that managed to give us NIKI's crying selfies on Instagram was supposed to be the first 88rising family concert ever in Jakarta, Indonesia along with other lineups like Chung Ha, Day6, Zhu (DJ set), Phum Viphurit, Yerin Baek, Stephanie Poetri, August08, and Dumbfoundead. It didn't end just yet, the lineup was also more festive with Indonesian acts like Reality Club, Voice of Baceprot, RAN, Dipha Barus and friends, Arta, Adhitya Sofyan, Cellosux feat. Rebelsuns, Devinta Trista, Elephant Kind, Moneva, Neonomora and so many more. The unprecedented event is still giving us a big question mark whether or not it will be held in our city after conducting one in California, USA.

We The Fest
This festival is one of Gen Z's favorite annual music festivals in Indonesia. The event was supposed to take place on 14-16 August 2020 with a highly anticipated lineup of artists such as MIGOS, Clairo, Cheat Codes, Masego, Blackbear, Ookay, Oh Wonder, Shallou, Sheila On 7, Naif, Isyana Sarasvati, Alextbh, Gabber Modus Operandi, Hondo, Jason Ranti, Moon Gang, Oslo Ibrahim, The Changcuters and so many more. This music festival was postponed due to the pandemic and the ticket holders will be able to attend the festival on the upcoming dates as their tickets will remain valid. However, because of the local regulations regarding restricted crowds, the event was held virtual and free of charge for the past two years.

Djakarta Warehouse Project
House music enthusiasts, where you at? Those who love electronic kinds of music must be very familiar with this one particular event in Jakarta, Indonesia. Not completely canceled, the event that took place on 19 and 20 December 2020 was all prepared to be virtually enjoyable for all people across the country. Even though we couldn't get the vibe of partying in the middle of the crowds with friends or families through this event, we were all given the chance to experience a virtual concert with big names as the lineups such as Yellow Claw, Martin Garrix, Vini Vici, Armin van Buuren, Brennan Heart, Curbi, Valentino Khan, What So Not, Julian Jordan & Justin Mylo.

Hammersonic Festival
Last but not least, for you who love to bang your head on rock songs, this one was supposed to be for you. Hammersonic Festival is an annual rock and metal music festival since 2012 and is known to be the biggest rock festival in Southeast Asia and the Asia Pacific. Because of the pandemic, the festival was postponed quite a few times in hopes for a settlement in circumstance so that it could be held offline. However, the situation said otherwise. This festival was supposed to be held on 27-28 March 2020 with a long list of lineups namely Slipknot, Black Flag, Lacuna Coil, Sinister, Comeback Kid, Suicide Silence, Vulvodynia, Polaris, Crossfaith, Stillbirth, Uncured, Testament, Trivium, Overthrown, Restraint, Solemn, Defying Decay, Venom Prison, Underside, Dark Mirror ov Tragedy, Marduk, Chunk! No, Captain Chunk!, Amon Amarth and many more.

There are actually plenty of music festivals in Indonesia that had to be canceled because of the pandemic and local regulations. Did you get a refund of your ticket already or have you been waiting and still holding onto your ticket?
